Meetings are canceled until further
notice. Virtual meetings will be held
every 1st & 3rd Thursday and
2nd & 4th Monday evening at 7 pm
via the online meeting platform, Zoom.
To register, please reach out via email to and answer the following questions:

2. Why do you want to participate in a NAMI meeting?
3. Please provide an emergency contact name and phone number.
The meeting sign on information will be sent to you via email.
We care about our NAMI Family and that is why we made the difficult decision to suspend most community activities for the foreseeable future.
This decision will be reviewed regularly- we miss you already and hope to see everyone soon!
Our commitment to provide the information and support you need, now more than ever, has not changed. Our groups will still follow NAMI guidelines and protocols but instead of meeting in person, we will meet over the internet using our computers, phones and other smart devices.
Please be assured that we will never share your information and we will not contact you or your emergency contact except in the event of an emergency. During an in person meeting if a distraught person abruptly leaves the group we have the ability to follow to check on their safety. We need to be able to follow up if the same happens in a group. In that event we will attempt to contact you first and only if we are unsuccessful will we reach out to your emergency contact.
Like our in-person groups, these meetings will be facilitated by experienced facilitators who are either family members or persons living with mental illness.
Anyone concerned about privacy can rest assured that NAMI Northeast Region will not record virtual support group sessions, chats will not be saved, and we will not capture your personal information, or use any information you provide during group in any way unless Pennsylvania law for mandated reporting dictates otherwise.
Your comfort and safety will be our priority. We welcome your feedback, concern or questions at
On Friday, October 4, 2019 The NAMI Scranton & Northeast Region will officially kick off the observance of National Mental Illness Awareness Week by holding its Annual Candlelight Vigil on the Spruce Street side of the Lackawanna County Courthouse in Scranton. The event will begin at 6:00 PM and end at sundown with the lighting of the candles. This event is intended to educate the people in the Northeast PA community about mental illness, and to end stigma by celebrating the great strides that have been made in diagnosing and treating mental illness.
